Electric Vehicles & more!
3/11/2007 Time to update my blogIt's Sunday, March 11, 2007. The weather is struggling to reach 40 degrees and snow trying to melt. When the overnight low temps stay above 32, I will begin using the 1971 Super Beetle for the summer.
Two weeks ago I traded in my 2000 Dodge Durango for a 2005 Durango. The 2000 Durango was in need of serious repairs (rust, mechanical & electrical) It was time for another truck. Sad to say, but this "new" Durango is already in the shop due to engine problems! Last Thursday it began running very rough-loss of power-check engine light on continously and intermittant low oil light.....I have a really nice 2007 Chevy Malibu as a loaner until the Durango is fixed.
Last Wednesday evening the Copper City Cruisers had their first official meeting at the Delta Firehouse in Rome. I offered to donate my services as club photographer and assist with the website.
I continue to struggle with trying to come up with $ to build a garage on my property allowing me to continue restoring my electric cars. Stay tuned! 12/6/2006 From Delivery to Finished EVAmbition knows no mercy! Today I add a new photo folder called: "Bradley GTE from Delivery to Completion" Enjoy! 12/4/2006 Freeway PhotosWhat a find! While cleaning out items at my parent's home I located these photos dad took when he was offered a tour of the Freeway factory at Barnsville, Minnasota April 1980 just prior to receiving delivery of 10 Freeway vehicles later that summer to Rome, NY Dad was an investor & Central NY State dealer for Freeway.
See the latest folder of photos (below).
Dad suffered an injury during that tour. He was up on a pallet taking photos. He was walking backwards and his attention was focused on the photo and didn't realize he walked off the pallet. He was about 10 feet off ground. Ended up breaking bones in his feet when he landed on the floor. Ouch! 12/2/2006 New pdf file re: EV two wheelersAdded another pdf file today. This one focuses on available (?) electric bikes, mopeds, bicycles, as well as "Who Killed the Electric Car" Literature and Electric Auto Association information. Check it out! 11/25/2006 Constructive Criticism & Photos!I welcome constructive criticism re: the appearance of my websites. If you find the text within photos difficult to read, locate the same images in pdf file format (text enhanced) link (above). I am unable to post pdf files directly to this site. With Steve Boyd's gracious assistance with converting my jpeg images to pdf files and offering space at his website to post these pdf files, the links are located above. Steve Boyd owns and operates a Freeway HMV 3 wheeled vehicle. 11/23/2006 Sign Up Here!If you'd like to learn about electric cars or wish to share information with other electric car owners sign up or participate at this site: Electric Vehicle Discussion List Send an email to: ev@listproc.sjsu.edu My Primary WebsiteIf you go to my primary website: www.dbd3.spaces.live.com and scroll to the bottom of that webpage you will find a section titled: "Favorite Websites" There you will find many links to all things regarding electric cars, kit cars and a few personal websites of relatives. Within this site you will find links to othe electric car websites, EV documents and photos of my electric car projects.
I have another website located at: www.dbd3.spaces.live.com At that site are more photos and a place I share my progress restoring these "exotic" cars in my personal collection, as well as an extensive section devoted to links to alternative energy vehicles, kit cars, etc. Scroll down to bottom of the page of this website and browse through my "Favorite Websites"
My recently deceased father, Col. Don B. Davidson Jr.; USAF Retired was always building things. When I was too young to appreciate it, dad built a helicopter and a gyrocopter. At the same time he converted a Trailways Bus to a Motorhome. This was all during the early to mid 1960's. My goal is to share photos and any relevant documents I have located from my father's estate. There will be links to other EV websites located here. Check back often as I will be adding to this site on a regular basis. When dad retired late 1970's (during the nation's "first" oil crisis) dad became interested in alternative energy vehicles. He became a dealer and mechanic for Motobecane & Solex mopeds. He ultimately lost interest in mopeds after an accident he had while riding a moped when a car hit him while he was crossing an intersection. In this accident dad sustained several broken fingers & broken ribs. After he healed, he was never able to handle tools to repair or continue building these vehicles. My father also invested in and became a dealer for High Mileage Vehicles selling Freeway cars. Sad, but the P.O.A. of my father's "estate" recently sold the entire inventory of Freeway HMV to a Canadian firm before I was able to retain ownership of any of them During the early 1980's, dad purchased six "kit" cars fiberglass body kits designed to be mounted on Volkswagen Beetle pans. Dad's first project was a Bradley GT "Electric" completed in 1982. This was never driven or registered-just sat in his barn for the past 30 years. After dad's recent passing, I inherited this Bradley and am currently in the process of restoring it.
While vacationing in Florida in 1988 dad purchased a 1980 Jet ElectraVan. I have also recently inherited this EV. Dad drove this ElectraVan daily while at his summer home near Orlando, FLorida. Sales pitch: I am looking to sell two Bradley GT2 Fiberglass car kits one complete with a 1973 VW pan & 1600 cc air cooled engine. Not sure how complete these kits may be as dad purchased them in 1980 and they have sat in this barn untouched since then. Also for sale: one 1929 Mercedes replica kit car (Bradley Baron) complete with modified/stretched 1973 VW Beetle pan & engine; one Fiberfab 1952 MGTD Replica kit also complete with modified/stretched 1973 VW Beetle pan/engine Also not sure how complete these may be as dad also purchased these kits in 1980.
